Phenolic resins are liquid, powdery, colorless or yellow-brown transparent. You can use paper, cotton, glass, asbestos and other similar materials to provide mechanical strength and electrical properties. The advantage is weak acid and weak base: it decomposes in the presence of strong acid and corrodes in case of strong alkali.
